As with all my classes, this class is a safe place to learn about meditation and how we can reconnect with ourselves. There are no judgments and no experience is needed. Meditation just like Yoga is a personal journey, so there are no right or wrongs ways - I am here to help you on that journey. This is a mindful meditation class that helps you deal with the stress of everyday life. We will begin each week with a short discussion and set an intention for our meditation practice. I encourage my yogi students to use this intention throughout the week. We will progress into a short soft stretching exercise to allow ourselves to be calm and release any tension from our day before proceeding. This is optional but highly recommended as it allows us to release from our day and allow our minds to be fully present. We will then usually get to do two different mediation styles each session. So before we proceed I will explain what the first mediation style will be and talk about the benefits and what you can do to help you stay focused so your monkey mind is not running off. After the explanation and the 10-minute mediation, we will do a short discussion with the group and talk about how it felt for each of us. Then we will proceed to the next mediation again after a short explanation of the style of mediation. We will finish the session with another discussion and then close out the session. Supplies Needed: Students should have a quiet place to sit. You can use a chair, or comfort seat on the floor. If you are on the floor it is suggested to have a cushion or pillows to support. You are also welcome to lie down. Feel free to make this experience your own; by having candles, diffuser or other elements that help you to be calm and ready to focus your mind. Please have water available and loose clothing for movement/comfort. Please also note: During our practice we will be doing some stretching yoga which is a physical activity and injuries can occur, please listen to your body and don't over extend.
